  1. What is an owner?

    • An owner is an individual or business owning assets. In Clearing, owners are linked to assets, and statements can be sent to their specified email addresses.

  2. Where are the owners coming from?

    • For certain Property Management System, we are able to retrieve owners directly from your Property Management System during the onboarding. You may also manually create, edit homeowners and link them to assets.

  3. How can I edit an owner?

    • To edit an owner:

      • Click on the owner.

      • Update information such as names, emails, minimum balance, and tax ID if necessary.

  4. Can I delete an owner?

    • Yes, you can delete an owner. Exercise caution, and ensure it's necessary to avoid potential data issues.

  5. How can I refresh my list of owners?

    • You can refresh your list of owners by manually creating new homeowners or pulling existing ones from your PMS. When pulling from your PMS, it won’t delete any existing owners. It will edit existing ones and creates those that are not yet in Clearing.

  6. How can I link owners and assets?

    • To link owners and assets:

      • Click on the asset.

      • Choose "Edit Homeowner."

      • Select the homeowner in the dropdown.

      • Note that one owner can be linked to multiple assets but an asset can currently be tied to a single owner.

  7. What should I do after I link an asset to an owner?

    • After linking, ensure that any data assigned to the asset is also linked to the homeowner. Use the "Apply Homeowner to All Transactions" option.

  8. Can I attach multiple owners to the same asset?

    • Currently, Clearing allows an asset to be linked to a single homeowner. The ability to link the same asset to multiple homeowners is under development.
