For property managers, missing line items on a booking details can mean lost revenue, especially when special offers bundle everything into a single payout instead of breaking out fees individually. Clearing's Missing Categories Report makes it easy to catch these gaps. You can flag any category to track when it's missing from a reservation, then generate a report to find and fix affected bookings to prevent anything from slipping through.

Common Use Case: Airbnb Special Offers
When a booking comes in through an Airbnb special offer, Airbnb no longer breaks the reservation into individual line items (accommodation fare, cleaning fee, pet fee, etc.). This means your cleaning fee (and any other categories) won't automatically populate on that booking. The Missing Categories report finds these bookings so you can correct them before anything falls through the cracks.
Step 1: Enable Tracking on a Category
Navigate to the Categories section.
Find the category you want to catch (e.g., Cleaning Fee Collected).
Scroll down and check the box for Track when missing in reservations.
Click Update to save
Step 2: Run the Report
Go to Reporting β Other Reports, then select the Missing Categories option.
Set your date range and click Generate.
Any bookings missing that category will populate in the results.
Step 3: Fix the Booking
Click into a booking from the report.
Review the line items.
Add the missing category (e.g., a $200 cleaning fee) and apply the correct accounting ("to management").
Update the accommodation fare or other line items to reconcile the booking details against the bank transaction.
Lock the booking to prevent any future updates from undoing the updates you just made to the booking details.
Once a booking is corrected, it will automatically drop off the report, confirming it's resolved! π
