Rules by Type of Transaction lets you map the transaction types sent by your connected platforms, such as Airbnb and Stripe, to Clearing categories, so synced payouts are categorized automatically.
Setting Up Rules by Type of Transaction
Step 1: Open Rules by Type of Transaction
Go to Rules in the left-hand menu, select the On Transactions tab, then click By Type of Transaction.
This list helps you review the categories associated with specific transaction types from different platforms connected to your account. Each row shows the Source (the platform) and the Name, which is the transaction type given by that platform.
Step 2: Choose a Category for Each Type
Map each transaction type to a Clearing category. This mapping only affects sub-transactions.
For example, if the Source is Airbnb and the Name is "Cleaning Fee," you might choose the category "Cleaning fee collected."
Step 3: Sync Your Payouts
Once a type is mapped, every synced payout with that type is categorized automatically.
Tip: Map all of your types in one sitting, before your next payout sync, so everything arrives categorized.
What You'll See in the List
The most common source is Airbnb. Most users connect Airbnb so they can sync payouts using the Clearing Chrome extension. The names come from the fees set up on your Airbnb account, which is usually done through your PMS, so your list may include names like:
Adjustment
Cancellation Fee
Cleaning Fee
Pet Fee
Resolution Adjustment and Resolution Payout
Other common sources include Stripe and any other platforms you have connected.
